What a tremendous variety of scenery on this ride. It begins at almost 3200 metres above sea level. The first 2 days ride across Castile towards the Castilian town of Aguilar de Campoo and the Cantabrian Mountains. Then the pass of Piedrasluengas leads to a wonderful descent into the heart of the Picos de Europa. 2 nights here to enjoy some of the most impressive scenery to be found in Spain. Our final 2 days reach the coast and the fishing village of San Vicente de la Barquera and the picturesque medieval village of Santillana del Mar.

Please contact us if you would like to personalise this tour.

  • The primary arrival point for this tour is Santander. The city has a good international airport.

It is also easy to reach Santander by bus with ALSA or by train with RENFE. Please note that if you are travelling from Madrid, you may find it easier and quicker to take the train to Reinosa in Campoo and then taxi to the first hotel

It is also possible to arrive and depart from Bilbao. Bilbao also has a good international airport, and also the aforementioned bus and train services

Here is the duration of the transfer at the beginning and end of the tour:

    • Santander to Campoo – 1 hour and 15 minutes
    • Bilbao to Campoo – 2 hours

    • Santillana del Mar to Santander – 30 minutes
    • Santillana del Mar to Bilbao – 1 hour and 30 minutes

Santander and Bilbao are connected to the United Kingdom by ferries run by Brittany Ferries. This may be a fun and interesting way to travel if you have the time (the crossing takes around one day), but tends to be more expensive than the many flight options.

PLEASE NOTE that you should check with IberoCycle before making travel arrangements. We may be able to save you time and trouble. And please check before booking early flights as the transfers here may involve a supplement.
