Toledo is one of the most beautiful and monumental cities in Spain. It was once home to Christians, Muslims and Jews, all co-existing within the bounds of the same city. El Greco lived and painted here. Its relatively small size makes walking around its maze of traffic-free streets a pleasure.
Toledo is easily accessible from Madrid with the high-speed AVE train. The
journey time is 30 minutes at a cost of 9 € (single fare). The city makes
an ideal complement to a stay in the capital.
