A visit to the interior and along the coast of the region of l'Empordà. This permits a combination of bike and beach holiday with beautiful beaches. The route starts and ends in a fantastic hotel situated close to the historic nucleus of Torroella de Montgrí. It combines a rocky coastline, a gentle countryside and a rural atmosphere. Visit the important Greek-Roman ruins of Empúries and the natural park of 'Aiguamolls d'Empordà'. In the countryside we visit an area with rolling relief and picturesque medieval villages You will visit the most important spots of the area like La Bisbal d'Empordà, the region's capital with its beautiful castle and also the medieval historic monumental village of Peratallada. You return to the coast to the picturesque village of Calella de Palafrugell, still retaining its original charm with typical houses by the sea. At the end of the route you return to Torroella de Montgrí through the magnificent area known as 'Empordanet', visiting the fantastic medieval historic monumental village of Pals. A fine tour with enchanting accommodation and excellent gastronomy. Ideal for gentler cyclists and families.

Day 1 Arrival in Torroella de Montgrí
Arrival at hotel. Orientation meeting, bike fitting (in case of bike hire), route documentation. Lodging in our charming hotel which is situated in one of the most typical countrysides of l'Empordà area.

Day 2 Torroella de Montgrí - Torroella de Montgrí
Take the opportunity to rest by the pool, or stroll to the beach. A good
loop ride is also available to follow the Daro River and visit some small
but very charming medieval villages such as Rupia, Foixa and Púbol.
In Púbol you can visit the Gala Dalí Castle and discover
the surrealist world of the prominent Catalan artist Salvador Dalí.
You also visit the ruins of the Iberian village near Ullastret, where
you can enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.
40 km - 25 miles

Day 3 Torroella de Montgrí - Sant Pere Pescador
Cycle down to the seaside to enjoy the marvellous countryside of the
mouth of the River Ter. Then ride around the Montgrí massif, passing
the medieval village of Bellcaire d'Empordà. Then return to the
seaside at l'Escala, a lovely fishing village famous for its anchovies.
Visit the historical medieval complex of St. Martí d'Empúries
and the famous Ruins of Empúries, along a lovely pedestrian and
cycle path along the beach.

Day 4 Sant Pere Pescador - Sant Pere Pescador
Today you visit the Natural Park of l'Empordà wetlands, a protected
area of great ornithological importance. The second part of the itinerary
goes through Castelló d'Empúries an important medieval village.
Optional visit to the area of the winery and olive oil making, at the
foot of the Alberes mountains.

Day 5 Sant Pere Pescador - Madremanya
This route takes you from the Alt Empordà region to the region
of Baix Empordà. It goes through the most interior part of the
region and the hilly areas on the western borders of the alluvial plain.
We can visit typical rural villages, such as Sant Miquel de Fluvià,
with its Romanesque monastery and magnificent tower and then Sant Mori
and its castle. You pass Verges, a medieval village with the remains of
its ancient walls, and Foixà, where we can see a magnificent panorama
of the plain of the Baix Empordà. After passing the medieval villages
of La Pera and Púbol you reach Monells or Madremanya, depending
on the location of tonight's accommodation.
44 km - 27 miles
Day 6 Madremanya - Calella de Palafrugell
The route takes us from Monells or Madremanya down to the coast again.
It goes through a large number of medieval settlements: Cruilles, Peratallada,
Ullastret... You can also visit La Bisbal d'Empordà, the region's
capital, with its medieval castle and its pottery museum. Lodging in the
old fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, which still retains its
original charm, in one hotel located on the top of a hill, with a magnificent
view over the settlement of Calella.

Day 7 Calella de Palafrugell - Torroella de Montgrí
Calella de Palafrugell - Torroella de Montgrí
Teturn to Torroella de Montgrí through the Èmpornadet area,
with a great variety of beautiful landscapes and culture. Visit the magnificent
medieval historical and monumental village of Pals. Today the route runs
through the interesting area of the Pals rice fields.
Optional: Extra night at the end and/or transfer to Flaça train
station.
